It’s heartbreaking to know that the indigenous communities of 200 villages adjacent to the Pak-India border belt in Sialkot lacked modern, well-equipped state-of-the-art maternity facilities. Women in these areas had to travel to the city to get consultations and other services, and most of them lost their lives due to un-trained birth handlers. But now, the Gynae Campus is ready to serve this marginalized population, providing accessible and quality maternal and child healthcare services. The campus aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the region by promoting normal delivery instead of C-section and ensuring safe motherhood and childhood. It’s a crucial step towards improving the healthcare system in Pakistan and catering to the needs of underserved population.

 

Reducing maternal mortality is a pressing issue in many countries, including Pakistan. Despite a gradual decline in the maternal mortality rate, Pakistan still lags behind its set targets. The healthcare system faces significant challenges such as a shortage of skilled staff, inadequate facilities, lack of education, and social constraints. The situation is further exacerbated by the rural environment, poverty, and widespread ignorance.
